Another good turnout for the prediction championship at the Malaysian Grand Prix. Thank you. Remember, you have until next Saturday to get you predictions in. Don't edit your predictions after Friday please. Also remember, the clues are there. Not necessarily good clues but still.

http://www.freewebs.com/gpsr/srf1.htm for the list of drivers that are competing this season.

Brazil is the 3rd round of the 18 race 2004 season in SR F1. It's still pretty bunched together at the top of the table and with the 8 drivers scoring points system, consistency is the key to the World Championship.

Let's focus on what happened last year. De La Rosa took pole position in the Senna G.P car (now MG F1), ahead of Wilson (not racing this year) in the Minardi and Trulli (not racing this year) in the Renault. From the looks of the form last year, Minardi tend to go very well in qualifying.

The race last year saw Coulthard come through from 8th on the grid to win the race. He also qualified in pole position in 2002, so Coulthard may be the one to look out for. De La Rosa got second and Trulli was 3rd.

Now we've had a couple of races, let's see how the current Championship leaders did last year. Salo is an unknown quantity as he didn't race last year. Ralf Schumacher qualified 20th and retired in the race. Pizzonia, on a run of 2 wins in 3 races, qualified 9th and finished 4th in the race.

Hopefully, some of this helps and here is some more relevant information:

Lap Records:
Qualifying: 1m13.674s De La Rosa - 2003
Race: 1m14.521s Coulthard - 2003

Previous winners:
2002 - Montoya
2003 - Coulthard

Top 3 Qualifying last year:
1st De La Rosa (Senna GP)
2nd Wilson (Minardi)
3rd Trulli (Renault)

Top 3 race last year:
1st Coulthard (McLaren)
2nd De La Rosa (Senna GP)
3rd Trulli (Renault)

Top 3 drivers after round 3 last year:
1st Trulli 21pts
2nd Raikkonen 16pts
3= De La Rosa 12pts
3= Firman 12pts

Top 3 teams after round 3 last year:
1= Renault 26pts
1= McLaren 26pts
3rd Jordan 22pts

11 of 21 predicted on the last race and Der Nazi has 2 wins out of 2. Here are the questions:

Who will qualify in pole position? (10 points)
Who will be last on the grid? (10 points)
The top 8 qualifiers (1 point for driver being in top 8, 3 points for driver being in correct place)
Who will make up the most positions in the race? (8 points)
Which team will score the most points in the race? (5 points)
Who will win the race? (12 points)
Who will be the first retirement? (10 points)
The top 8 finishers (1 point for driver being in top 8, 3 points for driver being in correct place)

TIE BREAKER:
The combined fastest time of qualifying and race laps
(EXAMPLE: Qualifying - 1m13.674s + Race - 1m14.521s = 2m28.195s)

2004 is certainly a close season so far.
