Actually, if that is my theory, then haven't I just proven that wrong.
I can imagine it. It's not a nice concept to accept, but I personally believe it to be the logical one.
As for God making us in his image - he is imageless. Instead, we percieve him as one of us.

Jesus has never accepted it.

God has put eternity in our souls, we can't physically imagine going out of existence and we won't. God made us in His image, hence we have eternity, we have to spend it somewhere.
