3 years, 3 wet races, Pizzonia survives the mayhem

Antonio Pizzonia has won the Malaysian Grand Prix in tricky conditions as almost everyone around him was eating gravel. This is Pizzonia's 2nd career victory after winning the final round in Japan last year.

The drama began on the first lap when Bruni tapped Michael Schumacher round. Fisichella was next when he got a good run on Firman but something went wrong and he spun into the gravel. He recovered to the track but a couple of corners later, Fisichella parked the car on the side of the track with a puncture and a bit of car damage.

Bruni got his just desserts when he ran wide, letting a recovering Schumacher back through. More drama happened at the front when Firman's car developed a brake problem and he ran off the track. He recovered to the pits to get it fixed but his chance of points were finished.

Coulthard twice, Montoya, Firman, Da Matta twice, Button twice, M Schumacher, Panis three times, Bruni, Frentzen, Villeneuve, Heidfeld and Verstappen all had spins and excursions into the gravel. De La Rosa and Verstappen had a coming together as well.

Amazingly, there were only 3 retirements. Fisichella I've already mentioned, Raikkonen's transmission failed on lap 20 and Montoya had a spectacular oil fire and he retired on lap 27.

So, after that eventful race, Pizzonia takes the win and is right up there in the title race. Pantano takes 2nd in only his second Grand Prix. Baumgartner makes it 2 points finishes in a row with 3rd. Ralf Schumacher is showing some consistency with a 4th place finish. Barrichello gives himself and Renault more points with 5th. Bruni managed to limit the damage of the off track excusions to pick up 3 points for 6th place. Sato follows his Jaguar teammate home with 7th and Salo watches everyone fly off around him and amazingly comes in 8th from last on the grid.

A mixed blessing, I suppose. 14th in the race, but another win in the predictions and an 11 point lead!

Hopefully, it's gonna be a double victory in Brazil! =D
