In the area where you need to collect the cogs start to climb and when you are attacked by the bats head towards the edge and bring out the flamethrower just as you fall.
You now can use the flamethrower anywhere but you can only use it once.
In the cheat menu write something rude (even the C word) and the monster will reply by saying thats not very nice or Charming.

To bounce on the flower it is hard but not impossible. Jump on it and hold Z just as she tries to propell you threw the air press jump. Land on it again and you should jump perfectly high enougth. Try not to get flung you can't hold on then.

You met the Dogfish yet Grix? Such a viscious sod!
Oh yeah, just make sure you keep landing on the... err... bouncy things, to make sure you go higher. I can't remember if pressing jump as they bounce helps either.
The money behind the gargoyle can't be retrieved until later... have you visited the catfishes yet?
