The er-yes situaiton springs to mind,
I know i'd be annoyed if someone came in here with a name like My Honour, or something, and started psoting pretending to be me.
Wouldnt you be annpyed if someone came on here with the name RealityMeister and started posting, saying they were you?
Thats the problem i have with people changing their name.
Grix and his brain i can understand and tolerate, but the er-yes thing got a bit annoying. As did the Mr Sheepy thing. Who was he anyway?

Which leads to another point, that's all well and good for a bit of fun, but that kind of abuse you'd only normally expect from an adolescent minority, which brings up a point about age limits for forums.
Some have said that you can only start forming valid and worthwhile opinions of your own once you hit a certain age, and only really start to accept responsibility for your own actions at later stages in life as well.
Obviously it has to be bourne in mind that different people mature at different ages, but there is sometimes a case where an age limit of 13+ is imposed in some forums. FOG might be one of them.
IE, if i said something.
Then change my name.
Then relate back to what i said.
It could get complicated and confusing!
The internet provides us with anonymity, and this is reflected in being able to choose any 'net presence' we desire when being visible on a website.
By making us stick to just one name, we lose that anonymity, which is an integral part of freedom of expression in a forum. It shouldn't be the name we look at, it's the opinions, the thoughts and the words of an individual.
Having a name that's never changed allows us to put preconceived notions, often incorrectly, against a specific poster. With the freedom afforded to us by the accessible functionality of being able to change our tags at will, these preconceptions can be avoided, opinions read more thoughtfully, and reponses can be given in a more unbiased manner.
I've already suggested the thread where name changes are announced BTW.
> yeah its messed up. but i couldnt be bothered contacting them.
