Well its scarily reached that time when I have to actually make some kind of decision about my future, and we've had to fill out a form as to our entrance to 6th form and A-level choices. I talk about it all with my parents teachers etc. and I came up with a list of 4 and put those down as my initial choices. Here are my four:

Maths
Geography
Music
Politics

I just wanted to know if anyone was doing or had done these courses and had any comments/recommendations/slagging off that would perhaps be of use to me....

Thanking you

i'm doing
General Studies
English
Law

General Studies is just basically a doss and easy way of getting UCAS points as long as you have good general knowledge.

English-Go for it of you like reading and reading into things.

Law-only if you find it interesting and don't mind hard work!

Maths I am doing, I was a B grade GCSE student and am struggling to get an E or D in my final AS exams in June, the course basically consists of Statistics, Mechanics (almost like Physics if you were good at that) and Pure maths. I find most of it all hard, and I don't have a tutor.

If you reckon you're getting an A*/A at GCSE then maths A-level won't be too bad. It's also do-able if you get a B at GCSE, one of my mates got B at GCSE and is doing pretty well at A-level (though he does also have a maths tutor one night a week I think). If you feel you pick up mathematical ideas well then it's probably alright, and because it's modular it makes it easier, as you don't have to learn everything for one set of exams.

Politics, I'm not doing, but from what I've heard from mates it involves a lot of learning laws and the dates they were put in place, and a lot of essay writing. So if you don't like a lot of long essay questions, probably not one to go for.

Don't know much about the other two.

I've done Geography and Maths out of those two.

First, Maths - unless you are absolutely the best at maths, or absolutely need maths A Level for a certain Uni course then for the love of god don't waste two years and risk pulling your UCAS points score down.

Geography - basically it's GCSE taken a level up and is good fun.

Overall, unless as I said previously you absolutely must have the A Level for a certain University course, A Levels are about getting your UCAS points racked up to give you the widest possible choice of University places.
