Okay, i've just been reading the latest Gamesmaster magazine, I wouldn't normally buy it because it's more for the younger gamers but it was the only games magazine I could afford. So heres so news I read that you might not already know about.

Next Gen Console News

Reasons to be happy:

- The games are going to look incredible. We're going to have photo-realistic graphics that often surpass anything you can get on PCs.

- The Xbox 2 will support High Definition again increasing the visual quality of games. The Revolution will be backward compatible whcih suggests the big three see this as console standard.

- Online will continue to play an important role ingaming. Microsoft hope to increase the amount of downloadble content avaliable for Live users and Nintendo will have Wi-Fi technology built into the revolution.

Reasons to worry

- To make the most of these powerful new machines developers will have to have larger teams. Experts reckon the cost of producing an AAA title will be around $20 million, compared to $5 million it costs now.

- Higher development costs will mean companies are likely to take less risks, which could lead to more sequels and possibly less innovation.

- Higher development costs could also mean higher game prices, next gen games could cost £160 - £170. (that must be a typo)

- Higher development costs will mean smaller companies will struggle to make games, so expect firms like EA and Activision to get more and more of the market.

- To get the most out of your next console you'll need a HD telly, broadband and possibly Wi-Fi capabilities, which for many gamers just isn't possible.

- Microsoft want you to pay for gaming bonuses and extras. With real money. Is this what gaming is all about?

New Sonic game

It's called Shadow the hedgehog and you will play as Shadow, it's not like the usual Sonic game as Shadow has a gun and looks similar to a Ratchet and Clank type game.

Marvel Nemesis : The Rise of the Imperfects

EA are making a new game featuring all/most of the Marvel characters, theres not much info about it but Gamesmaster say Spider-Man, Wolverine, The Thing Elektra and EA's specially designed Niles Van Roekel will definately be in it. It will be released for the PS2, Xbox, Cube and PSP.

When I first heard this, I was like "Cool!" but then I found out that it is another Underground one and I was like "Oh...".

New Matrix Game

Not The Matrix Online. Heres what it'll feature according to Gamesmaster:

- You're Neo himself in every scene straight out of the films (60% is based on the first Matrix movie). The story skims through the whole series and by the end of it you're capable of taking on thousands of Agent Smiths without getting so much as a scratch on the lens of your shades.

- The first game could handle around four characters on -screen at once . This can have a whopping 1000 Agent Smiths surrounding Neo. We saw him knock over 20 at once!

- You'll have the option to enter different training programmes to master new skills.

- The Wachowskis will not only be making a cameo in the game, they'll also be writing a brand new ending to it.

- It's got all the charcaters from the film in it - Neo, Trinity, Morpheus, Agent Smith, The Oracle, Ballard and Bane.

- Coming to PS2, PC and Xbox before the end of the year.

The New MOH

- Will not be online now, EA have changed their minds. (Lost them too)

- And has changed it's name from MOH : Dog's Of War to MOH : European Assault

- You will be able to give other soldiers commands.

- You will be able to use a bit of stealth in the game.

- Should be out around Autumn.

Black Hawk Down

I think this is out already or near it's release but I saw an advert in the Gamesmaster magazine and it said that it allows 50 players online on the Xbox and 32 for the PS2 which would be great, but whats the actual game like...?

Other news

- Charlie and the Chocolate Factory game announced to be released in time wit the film.

- Rome Total War is coming to the PS2, Xbox and Cube this Autumn.

- Stridman is sexy.

Back then it was exciting to usher in the new consoles and a new age of gaming. But this is just predictable and a bit crap. I don't really care about amazing new graphics, to be honest.

I just hope Ninty pull their promise of something different off (and not implode in a steaming pile of half-formed, poorly executed ideas that would have sucked anyway) and pave the way for some more original games, not just better looking ones.

I'm just remembering all the promises about the Emotion Engine when the PS2 was being talked about. Back then as well people were saying consoles would cost a thousand pounds and what not. Turned out to be all a load of rubbish as i'm guessing this will.

Least i hope so anyway, if not i've still got plenty of games to finish on both my PSX and PS2 until the prices drop down to a suitable amount

If they are any higher than £50 I will just give them all a complete miss, with £50 these days you can add an extra 512mb to your PC or even buy a small cheap AMD and good cooling and get 2 GHz plus speeds. The next of couple of years are going to interesting for all gamers. All these console are promising graphics which will surpass any PC ,but the most expensive computer hardware setup these days cost well above 2k for the very best stuff. Somehow I think they are over exaggerating.

That would be just shooting them selves in the face though. I wouldn't expect prices to go higher than £80.
