I think that everything to do with gaming should be advertised more than what it is now days. There was one stage where gaming was thought “not cool” by people, but I think it has come more, and more liked over the years. We do have adverts for games and consoles sometimes, but I just don’t think that it’s enough. There will be some people who are just casual gamers and who don’t read reviews for games etc., so if they see a telly advert for a game that has rolling footage I think it could help persuade the person to buy the game. As for us hard core gamers, I think it will do us good to see a game that we know good, being shown to the world (well, the UK then).
I still think that gaming could be so much more popular with a few more adverts etc., and the thing that I would love to happen is to make computer gaming a sport (if that’s possible. Think about it, how cool would it be to have like leagues for gamers who enter the competition. I know there are some competitions like Tekken tag Tournament and games like that for people who are lucky enough to be given the chance to be able to play in them, but I think their should be much more for the people like me who would absolutely love to enter something like this. I think the leagues would be very popular to. When I say leagues, I’m thinking along the lines of football league where you have top division, 1’st 2’nd 3’rd and so on.
Maybe this league could have a television show to support it and the battles or races could be shown to everyone sitting at home. I may be just fantasising too much, but I just can’t help but to think just how good this could be. People get excited with things like gameaday but think how people would react to tournaments where you compete with people your own age from all over the country. Maybe, if it does happen, we could think about getting involved in teams of gamers.
What I mean by this is instead of having a Liverpool football team you could have a Fantasy united gaming team, or whatever you decide your name to be.
Age is another thing I have considered. The ages could go something like 5 to 9, 10 to 14, 15 to 18 then 18+ go all together. There, all the ages are fairly evened out so it won’t be an unfair game. It wouldn’t be very sensible if a 5 year old was to battle against a 20 year old, the 5 year old could win and the 20 year old will be humiliated :-)
Obviously I have just given some very basic ideas and if my dream was to come true, their would have to be a lot of hard work to put into it to make it successful. So, more advertising, more computer game shows on the TV, and make gaming a sport of the future and give anyone and everyone a chance to enter would make me a very happy bunny! I know that there will be people having a little chuckle to my crazy ideas, but maybe, just one day this fantasy could be a reality. And this may well be the future of gaming.
That’s just my thoughts on the future, please go easy on me, I haven’t been around that long. Still, it is the future of gaming forum, so no one really knows what crazy, demented things could occur in the future!

If you prefer the games the PlayStation has to offer, then PlayStation - to *you* - is the best console.
If you prefer the games the N64 has to offer, then N64 - to *you* is the best console.
If you prefer the games the Dreamcast has to offer...
Blah blah blah... catch my drift? :-)
There is no 'best' console, and there is no difference between the owners of the consoles apart from the games they enjoy; there is no 'hardcore' gamer, and there is no 'casual' gamer - there are just people who enjoy playing games, and some of them have more time to devote to their hobby than others.
I have sometimes pulled 36-hour gaming sessions; in some people's eyes, that would make me a 'hardcore' gamer. But then sometimes I haven't touched my console for over a week; in those same people's eyes, that makes me a 'casual' gamer.
All of the machines have their 'target' audience. This is how I see the 'big three' (not including Microsoft at this time) - of course this is just my opinion, but I believe there is enough evidence to suggest that this is how most people see it:
Nintendo has historically appealed to a younger audience; yes, the games may be sophisticated when analysed, but they have always (until fairly recently) been presented in a way which is most likely to appeal to the younger gamers.
Sega have historically appealed to those who want an adrenaline rush and a quick fix; titles either converted from or similar to arcade games - i.e. great fun and highly addictive; simple to pick up, hard to put down, but ultimately lacking depth, being more score-driven than goal-driven.
Sony have much less of a history, but no-one can deny that they have been successful. Originally targeted at everyone, but leaning - through advertising and some of the titles that have appeared on their machines - towards the older gamer.
Once upon a time, you would never have seen a game like Conker on a Nintendo platform, and Resident Evil would have been too unsavoury for Sega. Until the industry was shaken up by the PlayStation's arrival, videogames were seen as being for kids, with even teenagers 'outgrowing' the, and the chances are that neither Sega or Nintendo were willing to upset parents.
Sony on the other hand had no image to live up to - they were creating one, and the more 'adult themed' games went down a treat because they were something new and refreshing.
More recently things have changed, with Nintendo and Sega having more adult-oriented titles - Conker, Perfect Dark, Resident Evil: Code Veronica, House of the Dead etc. In the opposite direction, there are currently more games aimed at younger audiences appearing on the PlayStation/PS2 - Teletubbies, RugRats, Spyro etc.
So the distinction between the target audiences is more blurred than ever before. That can only mean a bigger selection of games for all formats, which has got to be good for everyone. Every machine will have its exclusives, and there'll be more multi-format titles too; every format will have its share of excellent titles, and every format will have its duff games.
At the end of the day, the difference between good and bad games is down to nothing more than personal preference and opinion. If it could be clearly defined, there would be no poor games on any format - and we all know that is not the case.
'MGS is superior to Goldeneye' HAHAHAH so wrong!!!
I could go on but I'd be wasting my breath.

(Start Rant)
Metal Gear Solid, Colin McRae 2.0, Final Fantasy IX, Command and Conquer, Time Crisis, Micro Machines V3, Destruction Derby... all these are just a few examples of where the PSX, a 32-bit console remember, beats the N64, a 64-bit console, pads down. You cannot say that the games on the PSX aren't any better than those on the N64 or Dreamcast, because in the majority of cases, the Dreamcast games are better graphically, the PSX ones have more gameplay (and sometimes even better graphics), and the Nintendo specialises in the younger market, and I think you'll find that that generalisation is a lot more accurate than your initial one quoted above.
By 'specific audience', are you referring to the general public? Or just the population of the world?
PSX was advertised to appeal to everyone, young and old alike, and it worked. Its shipped more units than any other homebased console in history (unless you count the abacus). It has more games than any other console, more sales than any other console during it's lifetime, and is probably the most popular console of all time.
(End Rant)
The Playstation. No other reason.
The strange thing is, the games on the PSX aren't any better than those on the N64 or Dreamcast... it's just the way the console was advertised that made it reach such a specific audience.
Speaking of crazy, demented things, where's Meka? I haven't seen him all day!
