I've signed up for both PayPal and Ebay accounts, but I'm not very sure what I am doing.

You see I do not have a credit card, just a lowly debit card - and I think (correct me if I am wrong) you need a fully fledged credit card to pay for things on Ebay?

But, you can pay for thinks on Ebay with PayPal, for which you can use a debit card to register with.

SO. When I try to buy on Ebay, I put some sort of PayPal info in (probably an ID or email or something) and then it will take the money out of my bank account?

Do I have to "upload" some virtual money from my bank into my paypal account before I do this?

So many questions, so many nice people to answer them for me.

Go ahead, make my day.

So, currently, when someone pays into my PayPal account the 'virtual' money is simply held there, and doesn't go into a bank.

SO - I can buy things with my stored virtual money in my PayPal account?

This is a reply that I gave to someone else who asked a similar question a few days ago:

In the UK PayPal doesn't currently do bank tranfers, but you can add a Switch card which is basically doing the same job. There will be a limit to start with on how much money you can send through your account, but on registering the card to will be asked to verify the card. There is a link button next to the card that you register on your account page (click on profile on the top tabs and click Credit Cards in the middle column) This involves PayPal charging your Switch card two amounts of less than £1.00 (e.g. one of 62p and one of 12p) which will show up on your bank statement. When these amounts appear you will have to put in the amounts you were charged into the approriate part in your PayPal account (don't worry...paypal will send you an email with a direct link to this bit) and that will verify the card and remove the limit. You will be refunded this amount afterwards.

You can send money without having any money in your paypal account, it will charge your Switch/Credit Card, it will go through instantly. This debit typically takes around 5-7 days to show up on your bank statement.

You can also use cheque or postal order, even cash, with some auctions. Not just paypal.
