Why change the name from sexually transmitted disease to sexually transmitted infection?
To me “disease” has more impact then “infection”. It’s pointless.
Why do names change? I remember when Snickers was Marathon.

True but you can die of a cold if not treated properly, still just a wee infection if treated properly at the beginning. Cold leads to flu, flu leads to suffering, flu leads to the dark side of the force...I mean death.

Just because they are easily treated doesn’t mean that the name should be changed to lessen the impact.
They only clear up quickly if caught early. They can cause long-term damage, even if they’re the less “serious” ones.

Yeh but there are only a few exceptions to the rule. A lot of them are easilly treated like you would a cold which is an infection.

I think there is a suitable difference in the meaning of the words and as more and more has been learned about Sexually Transmitted Infections over the years the word Infection is more appropriate for many of them. I think disease is too strong a word for some of them which you can clear up with a couple of antibiotics.
