Does any1 know any other contact info apart from this crap enotes? Like an Email, Head Office, Fax, Address?
Any1 ever taken them to small claims court at all?

It's under warranty, so your fully entitled to a refund. Threaten them with Trading Standards, always works for me.
Did you use a credit card to pay for it? If so, you have more protection/rights. Legally though, if the goods are not fit for the purpose you purchased them for, you are fully entitled to a refund, the retailer is not allowed to alter you basic rights, though they may offer you a credit note/replacement, you have the right to refuse this.
Have a look at tradingstandards.gov.uk.
