I'm getting more and more desperate to play the drums. I've been wanting to play them for ages, but today is just driving me mad.

I bought Led Zeppelin II in Germany, only one of the Zepp albums that I was missing. So I decided to set up my brand new cd systemy thing that we were very kindly given by our electronical dude friend people.

And it's got the best drumming I've ever heard and it's making me mad. Damnit I need to be in a band, trust me to be stuck on the end of nowhere. RAR.

Also, trying to write some rocky songs. I am feeling most definitely rock as of late.. It's difficult, bah. I've discovered however that lines of four syllables are great to sing. Like 'We salute you" or "Rock the casbar", so I'm trying to write "Burn the Bassist" at the moment.

So yes, wonderful. Oh, the point of this topic.

I want to play the drums. Desperately. I have no idea where/how to buy them, I know Pearl are great and apart from that all I really wanna do is rock. Help?

I don't really have that much money, but I'm willing to spend a good amount on a nice set. I'm happy to take a step up from the "well as a beginner and in case you don't like it", so some nice mid-range recommendations too if you can?

So yeah, any help would be great.

For the first "band" I was in, we used an old laundry basket and some sauce pans as a drumkit. You could probably pick up a crappy old kit for about £100-150, but you get what you pay for.

And Led Zep 2 is fantastic, I can't believe you'd claim to have a collection without it! For more super drumming, try Supergrass 'I Should Coco' - their later albums chilled out a bit, but the first one is mental!

I can't really recommend a particular kit, as I'm not really all that great on that sort of advice.

But if you are like serious about learning to play them well - stick in at it. At first it's annoying, because, well at least for me, you always seem to screw up.

But the moment you really get the hang of it, you'll be doing excellent improvised fill in's and all.

I've got a drumming exam thing on the 8th of March. Hurrah.

I really want a kit, but there's nowhere for it. Damn.
