Week one was largely dull. It was all first aid, which I did not too long ago, but a tad more involved.
Week two was mainly classroom based, learning about things ranging from how to lift a box, to how to operate hose and pumps to equalities. This week we were also beasted in the gym. Every day we had a hour and a half, (at least), of pain. My left knee now makes a squishy noise when I go up and down stairs.
Week three was much more practical. Learning knots and how to operate the hose, (make all the jokes you want. Seriously, I’ll be disappointed if you don’t.) Completing drills using the pump on the back of the engine, hydrants and hauling things up and down buildings.
We are now starting to take it on another step bringing out the ladders. I have to climb to the forth story of a building and climb over a balcony to then climb back down again. I have not done anything like this before, so this will be fun/interesting. In my last week I get propelled 8 story’s up on a platform about 1 foot by 1 foot by a motor on the back of a engine and bobbed about for a bit.
So, this is it in shorthand. So far I’m having great fun, (minus a few aches and pains). So you can all look forward to/dread posts like my old police ones only about the Fire Service.
How have things been with you all?
> Why you little wee scamp.
You promised not to mention that again ... besides, it was cold and I'd had a lot to drink.
