I'd like to start using Javascript and was wondering if any of you nice types could recommend a book or website that will help me get going?

Javascript is its own language, not really similar to JAVA and JAVA is not similar to C at all. JAVA is an Object Oriented language and also is a high level language that runs on top of the java virtual machine which means you don't really have to pay much attention to the platform you are running it on. Javascript has some similarities to Java but has a much smaller instruction set and it also must be used within an HTML document whereas JAVA is a stand alone language.

Javascript is used onweb pages and if this is the one you want to learn then I recommend Thau's JavaScript Tutorial on webmonkey, the best one I have found.

If its JAVA you want to learn thenjust ask and I'll give you some more info on that.

Lets get things straight here, What exactly do you want to learn?

JavaSCRIPT

or

Java?

Javascript is similar to java, but its used on the web, Java itself is a standalone language that's similar to C.

JavaScript in Easy Steps is a good introduction, and the 'Teach Yourself _ in 24 Hours' books are good.

He can't spell, construct a sensible sentence or converse in a normal manner. As I pointed this out he went off on a little hissy fit.

Ask alastair, he has just nailed a java programming job :-) he is officially THE MAN to see. He comes around this forum to help people so he'll probably see this topic and advise you wisely.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
