Having just read the article on Sega developing for the X-Box, i think the first blows have landed in the next gen "console war". Sega have announced 11 titls for the X, wich is more then the 'Cube or the PS2 (I think). Other big name titles have been announced from 3rd party developers, with DoA 3 being an X only title to begin with, along with another version of the mighty ISS.

This just confirms what i've been saying for some weeks now. The console that gets the most support from Sega will win the "war". Why is this? Well, even though Sega now no longer manufacture the hardware side of console, it seems their name still has some marketing muscle.

I think that the rumours that the X wouldnt be online 'til the second year would have put some potential customers, and 3rd party developers off. However, now that Microsoft have signed up Sega, that will no doubt restore the faith of customers and developers alike.

Thoughts anyone?

I wouldnt say that the DC is there last console. It wouldnt suprise me if they released another in a few years time when they have built up some revenue.

Not true, Sega games are appearing on the GBA. It would only be one more step to develop for the 'Cube.

Yep, agree with that completely.

The PS2 had 30!?!? I only ever saw about 10 in the shops near me.

I dont know if all of the Sega titles will be launch titles. Has it been confirmed?

Sega have stated that they will make games for the Gamecube, and, in their words, "have something special lined up for it".

I am wondering why exactly, is the Gamecube announcement special, when the X-Box one isn't?

Most people were brought up on either the Megadrive or the Snes initially, except for our younger gamers who may have started with the PSX or the N64.

For those of us that did sample Sega's gameplay in the early years, it's a definite relief to see that they are still managing to stay in the gaming industry despite all their problems in the hardware market.

Sega software is legendary, they have produced many classic titles, including the Sega mascot Sonic the Hedgehog, which had the gaming industry raving 10 years or so ago.

Even today, they are still producing quality titles for the Dreamcast, their lastest and last console.

Sega have said, and Nintendo have also stated their agreement, that Sega will never produce games for their ex-business rivals, so Nintendo fans who went from Snes to N64 will never know what they are missing in terms of gaming enjoyment.

It's definitely a big blow to Nintendo that Sega are not just still around but will be developing for one of the most eagerly anticipated next gen consoles. Yes, Sony and Nintendo have PS2 and GC, but the X-Box IS different, it could do to the gaming market what Sony did when it launched the PSX, which is what makes the gaming industry so exciting at present.

Now that the newcomer on the block will have Sega behind it, this pairing will give the X-Box the initial boost and extra hype towards launch that will ensure that a large majority of Sega fans and other gamers will be ordering it and buying it as soon as they can.

The PS2 only had 30 titles at launch, and only 3 or 4 have been really discussed since. The X-Box to date has about the same number of launch titles, and I think that on launch day and a few weeks afterwards we will be seeing more than just 3 or 4 titles being discussed. 11 at least. And all Sega ones...

PS2 does have rather a lot of support from Sega, and there are some Nintedo announcements coming soon.

I'd reserve judgement until after E3 if I were you.
