Wrestling. Why do you all love it so? Before you go all defensive and "GO THE F*** AWAY U MORON IF U DNT LIK IT DONT POST" etc etc.

I'm simply curious as to why you enjoy watching it.
You know it's fake.
The most stupid of people can instantly spot that.

The acting is the most diabolical attempt at entertainment ever. It's just so obvious and corny.

And they're all semi-naked. And try and look hard and stuff.

Please, by all means, spill your guts to me as to why you like it.
Because I just don't see how people can.

But in a film the actors get as many takes as they want to get it looking just right before the public gets to see it. With wrestling the performers get one shot and have to get it right but as they're human obviously mistakes get made. I mean if you watch the ladies matches then it so painful to watch and obviously fake it really does make you cringe. However when you think of the pressure on them to get it right the first time then you can understand when some mistakes get made and the "fighting" looks fake

I used to watch RASSLIN' years ago, and the even the better wrestlers still looked pants most of the time. I'm not claiming they aren't all very athletic and fit and all that, because they quite obviously are, but I just think that pretty much every match looks like a great big ballet scene.

I suppose I like wrestling because of the story lines and athleticism.(sp)
Also, it gives me an excuse to spend my money on something.

Some of the poorer wrestlers can make it look pathetic. The best examples of wrestlers at the moment are Angle and Benoit. They make it look good.

And the 'gay' thing was just a general comment that appears regularly.

Oh, and I haven't once mentioned about it being "gay" or anything.

But by fake, I mean so painfully and blatantly obviously rusty.
It just looks too, I dunno, dodgy to me. Fighting scenes in films look damned good, albeit because of cinematography/special effects and so on, so forth.

But watching some wrestling fights just look so obviously fake, if you know what I mean. Just so unrealisticly poor.
Though again, that can be said for some films, but it's still nowhere near as bad.

And all this backstage storyline malarky is just...
Bah. I honestly can't think of a word for it. Cheesy, I dunno.

Indeed, it's the preconceived ideas that pretty get about wrestling that gives it a bad image. They've probably not even sat down with an open mind and actually gave it a chance.

Sure, it isn't for everyone but they feel they have to say it's 'gay'. If anything, it's more real than movie fights but I don't hear anyone going around saying movie fights are 'fake' (even though they are) or 'gay'.

I laugh when people say wrestling is fake.

It gives me something to critisise on a regular basis. :D

Seriously though, it is athletic, except for the bigger guys because they are usually just slow. There is a lot of skill required and getting slammed does hurt because the ring isn't padded.

I'm not really interested in the acting side of it but I will say it's more exciting than watching a soap.

As usual, my explanation of things sucks. Oh well...
