Stars are one thing, but using symbols is effectively the same as typing the word itself.

It's uncalled for because you're acting like you have never done it before. I don't think there's anyone on this forum who hasn't used stars or other symbols to swear before but I do it a couple of times and I've got the PTA up my...bottom...grr doesn't have the same effect.
