What do you use?

Cost?

Etc.

Aimed at new (i.e 17/18yr old) drivers.

*cries at monetary situation*

I'm just over 18 (er ...), but I use More Than: £190 fully comprehensive, protected NCB.

I don't envy you looking for insurance at your age ...

I'm with Norwich Union, but I'm 22. From my expeirence of getting insurance at 18 the best advice I can give is to ignore any company claiming it specialises in younger drivers. They're rarely much cheaper and often higher than regular insurers.

A big variable, obviously, is what the car you are trying to insure is.

Best bet is to shop around
http://www.insuresupermarket.com

Use that to compare the various places that offer car insurance.

Also it sometimes works out cheaper to put an older family member down as the first driver and then yourself as a named driver.

I was gonna go with Diamond, for some stupid reason. Seems like a very feministic company..! But their prices are no better even though they claim to be.

I'll be keeping my eye on this topic too if anything pops up. My car's not insured yet :s Been sat on the road waiting to be driven around!

If you can spare the dosh...

Go take pass plus. It is an extra certificat ething they have brought out you can take up to a year after you taken your test.

It enables you better driving, all road conditions, motorway driving AND why most people take it - because it makes you more road worthy especially for males it can knock alot off an insurance.

My male friend is 18 took his and got nearly 200 quid off. What you pay for your pass plus you will get back in time. Various companies offer different amounts off but some just give you a year no claims..

Worth a look into mate.

Pass Plus is a waste of time, in terms of discount anyway. Yep, some places will give you discount, but they tend to be the ones with not so good prices to begin with anyway. Most insurers know that all it really is is about 4-6 extra lessons and that amount of lessons in no way makes you more roadworthy.

How about trying the AA? I've heard that their website will look through various companies and find the right one for you.

Otherwise, I've heard great things about More Than.
