Before DVDs came along there was VHS. I never bought a single movie on VHS, my brother only bought 3 (SE Star Wars) and my younger brother about 10 (a mix of 80ies films like Planes, Trains & Automobiles and Red Dwarf).

But now we seem to buy DVDs all the time, collectively we have just under 200 DVDs now and we buy atleast 1 DVD a week as a family. (we used to rent a lot but we dont anymore and the nearest cinema is 30 minutes drive away). I guess it is good news for the television and film industries. Anyone else noticed that they're buying more DVDs than they did VHS?

My recent DVD purchase was Donnie Darko Prism Edition. At a very nice price of £4.99 to encourage those who wouldnt have bought the film otherwise, despite having no special features. It's a very interesting and unusual film nothing like I've seen before.

I also pre-ordered a DVD boxset. Most of you are too young and would probably confuse it with the awful Matt LeBanc movie that came out years ago. It's the Lost In Space Series 1 boxset. 8 DVDs, 31 episodes, a collective running time of 23 hours and 42 minutes (possible marathon attempt?) At a nice price of £39.99 "DANGER! DANGER WILL ROBINSON!!"

Anyone else buy anything on DVD lately?

There's restrictions in the USA that a programme has to be shown on TV for a certain amount of time before it can be released on DVD. That's why we get Futurama and Family Guy first.

Hero. Such a great film, one of my all time favourites. The wire work was great and all, but it was more than that. It was just art, but in a film. I've never seen anything like that before.

Yeah, my Six Feet Under came yesterday too. Does have pretty good box-art, and the menus and all are pretty similar to the second series'. Only watched the first episode so far though, seeing as I'm trying to get through Friends and The Simpsons Series 5 too.

UK seems to get a lot of American TV on DVD before America. There's a reason for it, I just can't remember what it is.

Oh.. You have it now?!
Mm, I saw the box art, it sure is nice!

Edit: Of course.. Release date is 04/04. Those few months went way too quick. It must've been last November I was thinking about it coming out..! :)

With TV, we get a lot of it first - both Six Feet Under, and 24, and I'm sure there's others.

But yeah, I love the box art for the third series, and it's nice that this series is in 16:9 widescreen. I'm watching Episode 6 now. I'll probably have the series finished some time tomorrow.

Really?! I thought Region 1 DVDs always came out before Region 2 [apart from English films].

R2. From Play.com. They always deliver to me 2 days early. It's not out on R1 for a fair while yet.
