"The Burglar"

I’m home alone this half term, the parents have gone to the Lake District and my sister is staying with her friend. I have been downstairs all day doing history coursework and chatting on msn. I went upstairs around ten minutes ago to get a CD from my bedroom to find a man stood in my bedroom, I think he had just gained entry through my opened window. He stood transfixed like a rabbit in a car’s headlights for a moment, then began to charge towards me. Next to my bedroom door is a heavy metal CD rack which I picked up and just swung at him. I didn’t know what else to do, he would certainly have knocked me down and done some damage.

I thought it would just stun him while I called the police, which I have done, but he hasn’t moved yet. He is lying there, face down, with a crimson patch spreading around his head and staining my pale carpet. I checked him to make sure he didn’t have any weapons on him, I found a little flick knife which I have put away in a drawer and a pair of handcuffs which I placed on the table. It was when I was searching him I realised how cold he had gone. I thought at first it was because he was unconscious, but I felt his neck and there isn’t a pulse.

The police said they would be here as soon as possible but they still haven’t arrived. When will they be here? How am I going to tell my Dad? Am I a murderer?

Nothing really. My cat sneezed earlier and in doing so fell over. That made me smile a little.

This isn't entirely fictional. My friend Emily is home alone for the week and she went upstairs and caught a bloke coming through her sister's bedroom window. She didnt clonk him with a CD rack though because he scarpered, but she did call the police. True story.

Kind of tells you NOT to leave a window wide open when your not around..

I still dont understand why you write these.

Almost fooled me for a minute there! Would've been much more realistic if you'd have given it a different title! :p

Maybe Kyz just lives in a very big house, and he sleeps in 'the sprinting room"
