I think you have to do a bit of both. I picture it as a pair of scales you have to have them both even on either side. So yes, think about your actions, but dont become boring, taking some stupid risks in life teaches you valuable lessons that can only come by taking these risks. You have to have some kind of morals, rules or guide lines to lead your life by, but remember life isnt just a bunch of rules you have to follow.
