Do you give yourself personal grief over how to behave and live, or do you just do what you feel like and worry about everything else later?

Some interesting thoughts since I (shamelessly) left for Eastenders yesterday.
I guess as we all use our own personal benchmarks of good and bad that we're bound to see some differences, some being more easy-going than others.
Does what someone doesn't know still hurt them?

I do what i think is right, provided it really is, if you know what i mean. Example:

Last week, i was in line for a ride at Disneyland, and saw a way to cut about 10 minutes off the time, but didn't do it because i knew it was wrong. A small wrong, but still a wrong.

Alternatively, if i knew it would be right to give a rapist a good kick in, i still wouldn't, because its both right, and wrong.

And finally, there's stuff i'd do because it was just right, say if an elderly person fell over, i'd help them, probably have a bit of a quiet giggle first, but still help.

Sounds medieval, which reminds me of my ruling moral principal: "When the fool is oblivious, cut the purse from his belt and scarper."

Just kidding. I don't English_Bloke cuffing me...

How about 'All shall perish against the might of the man with the big sausage'?

I think most people have two sets of morals, maybe even three - public/private and for certain situations.

The very nature of society means that certain kinds of morals cannot be given voice.

"Treat others as you would like to treat you, even if they don't reciprocate."

"It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice."

"Suspicion might earn you a gold coin, but kindness will earn you two."

I try to live by these and a few other ideas ... not always successfully, though!
