If anything, he was only really bought on the 'word' of what he could do, just because of who he was. (So, you never know - with all the hype around him, Fergie really COULD be after Wayne Rooney in the summer! ;) )
Then again, he didn't earn those few international caps for nothing...
And he was always pretty good in Championship Manager....
Perhaps, if only he was given more time and games to play?
After all, he did make it as an England international, didn't he...
(Granted; perhaps not one of the "better" options for that level)
And, while Blanc look like quite the disaster at the back during his first few months in the post-Stam era, after time, we did find his experience quite vital to our teams backline, and he really helped some of the younger players coming through. He may've also been very slow, but he did make one-or-two geat tackles in a couple of Arsénal games, if I remember correctly...
And I, also, would like to nominate Kevin Pilkington for the No.1 jersey. Taibi, Bosnich and co. all made mistakes, but they still had some abillity in their play. However, no matter who Pilkington played for - even in the lower divisions! - he just didn't seem to have a single-ounce!

Kaba diawara
Taibi did make some stupid mistakes, but he is incredibly agile and adventurous. At least he tried, unlike Pilkington, who was just incompetent and useless.
however:
john lukic, remi guard, nelson vivas and numerous strikers were pretty crap.
Looking back at the striker's we have had in the past, I couldn't think of anyone worser than him.
Not as bad as Bellion anyway.
Actually both are crap.
