I'm with Tilt on this. Darko wasn't the indie revolution it was made out to be. It falls under the same bracket as Igby Goes Down - "Indie Film That Is Hyper-Rated". But Igby is a brilliant film, one of my all time favourites. Darko isn't a stayer.

It's not a clever film, it's no more clever than Back to the Future or any of the other time travel films that went before it.

The difference between Donnie Darko and the others though, is that Darko likes to think it's clever when it clearly isn't.

It tries to be too clever and anyone with a bit of sense can see its trying to take itself as a serious film that tricks you into thinking the plot is well crafted. It really isn't though.

Though reading a previous Donnie thread, and noting the amount of "im confoozd!!!!111" posts, they were obviously wrong for some.

But that's the stupid people's own fault. For being so stupid.
