Bear/Bare/Whatever in mind that it's midnight, and that I had roughly 4 hours of sleep last night/morning.
Good good.

******

I felt its presence above me. Watching. Waiting. I felt its glare upon me like the Suns rays that spread across this baron land. The dry, dusty terrain beneath me scorched my feet, and sent a spearing heat through my body. I dared not look up, in total fear of causing a reaction. I knew the tempremental nature of this beast only too well. There was nowhere to run should the worst happen, but the open air ahead of me. My black, beady, vacant eyes quickly darted left and right of me, searching for somewhere, searching for protection.

And then, the shadow. A great darkness drew over my seemingly insignificant body with great speed. The sheer size of the predator was only augmented through it's shadow. I was more aware of it now than ever. I quickened my pace to a brisk skip - yet I knew my efforts to escape would be futile.
A piercing shriek. The sound arose a greater fear in me than I had ever had. It was all going to end. Right here. Right now. And there was nothing I could do.

I sensed that its might, strength, speed and overwhelming power were to be exemplified before me, and I was the prey.

And for the first time, it came into sight. I froze. I stopped.
I went no further. The gargantuan commander of the air swooped ahead of my, causing the fur of my back to sweep forward like waves.

The vulture rose up once again with great speed, and began to circle me.
This was it. The whole breed of this species, personified with this one progression. My fear of death took over, and my body spurted into life once again. In a burst of speed, I accelerated across the plain, towards the valley sides. There, perhaps, I'd be safe. But it was as if the creature had encouraged me to do so.

It craved the thrill of the chase. And it swooped down on me, my senses tingling again. Possibly for the last time.
A sharp pain rose backbone as the iron like grip of the birds claws seized my tiny frame. And I rose from the ground. I took comfort in the fact that my aching, searing feet were being rested. I closed my eyes, and embraced the inevitable crushing of my tiny, immaterial body.

But no. The grip seemed to loosen. I reopened my eyes to see the ground below so far away. And the air rushed through me. And I fell through the air.
*******

Pretty scrappy, I know, but come one. It's half midnight.
Ach well.
Comments, of course.
Good, and bad inevitably.

Never thought of that.
Nah, I wasn't all that tired, and my room was like at a sweltering heat, so I'd never have been able to sleep.
