Anything can happen when transfers are concerned.
I'd agree that that all this off-the-field crap with McWankus and Wankier is having an affect somewhere, but I don't really see how it could be effecting the players, directly. As money-hungry as they all are these days, they are still professional, and they know (after all these years) the job on-hand that they have to get on with.
If anything, then, really, they should each be giving each-game 200% to show those idiots why Fergie is the one-and-only man for the job.
However, I think he's part of the problem. Are any of the United players under-threat from this takeover talk? No. Ruud van Nistelrooy won't be going anywhere; Ryan Giggs is staying put - if anything, they'll be able to get even-more money out of it. As for Sir Alex Ferguson, though... He could lose his job - no matter what he does.
Having to do the job you love under such pressure - when it's tough-enough being among Europe's and the World's elite - when you know it could all be over within a matter of weeks, just because your new boss doesn't like you... How could anybody think straight?!?
I'm glad to see it all appears to be dying-down a bit, now, though. Hopefully, Fergie will now be able to redirect all his attention to what we have left in this fading season, and, hopefuly, some way to get around our defensive crisis.
Only Fergie can do it - he's the United man.

Thank you.
Birmingham are 3 points off with a game in hand.
I'm so looking forward to the Villa Vs Blues game now. We are both on great form and it's time to show them who really are pride of the Midlands.
It's still early doors, but if we qualify for Champs league it would just be amazing.

True. Also, it should be remembered that of the games you've lost this season, 4 of them were (I think) when Rio was available/playing? He absence can't really be blamed.
I think, as much as they might try to deny it, all this off-the-field nonsense *is* affecting them.
While I do find it amusing from a "Gooner" point of view, I do also have sympathy for United, as I know how I would feel if this were happening at Arsenal.
Magnier and McManus are idiots, and shouldn't be letting the racing issues interfere with the football issues. It seems stupid that they risk potentially causing the downfall of such a massive investment over the rights to a bloody horse.
I'd say shoot Rock of Gibraltar and have done with it.

He's only joking.
You're turning more-and-more into Fergie every day!

Yeh, I agree but it's too late in wondering 'what could have been'. Rio has been banned and the transfer window has now gone. Therefore we need to look at what weve got and try and fudge this gaping hole we have in our defence.
I think our solution maybe to move Keane into central defence, probably one of the reasons why Fergie never signed anyone in the transfer window. I know he'd be missed in the midfield but not as much as we would have say 2/3 seasons ago. P.Neville has shown he is a true combative midfielder and alongside Scholes I think he can do a job for us.
The alternative is to move G.Neville into Centre back but I am not confident in Wes brown coming up against the likes of Henry, Ronaldo etc
So maybe a team like this would be better balanced?
Howard
G.Neville, Keane, Silvestre, O'Shea
Solskjaer, Scholes, P.Neville, Giggs
Van Nistlerooy, Saha
