if it does it on clean as well then a dodgy jack connection is prolly to blame...
i'm pretty lucky with the one i use, i keep blowing the fuses in the back but for 7p a time i should be ok...

Popping, crackling and hissing sounds when it's on overdrive, tried with assorted guitars and leads - it even does it with nothing plugged in sometimes. They've replaced a different part each time, and it's always developed the same problem within minutes of getting it back here..
Just very glad that Marks Music in Cambrudge give me a loan amp while it's off being looked at, don't fancy 3 weeks playing through a tinny Fender Frontman..
It still works fine.
That's not from transporting it about though, never even gigged with it, but he's right, they can generally take a battering.
