When everyone knew how to use DOS, because they had to.
When Windows 3.1 came as standard.
When soundcards were sold seperately from PCs.
When games were no more than 2mb each.
When all game music was midi.
When 500mb of hard drive space was enough.
When 8mb of RAM was too much.
When Windows Media Player couldn't play MP3s.
When Voodoo cards ruled the nest.
When saying "Are you gay?" and making a unit say "Yes" in Warcraft was a fully original and humerous idea.
When 800 by 600 was a high resolution.
When CD burners were brand new, cost more than a car and could only write at x4 speed.
When being able to jump and crouch in Dark Forces was a big deal.
And when being born in the 80s meant you were young.

Just had to get that off my chest. I feel old.

I remember when flogging the dolphin/bashing the bishop/whacking the bush/punching the Cockrel was fun.

Gah... it's Brazil, China and Japan for me. Though I guess it was my fault for ignoring a terror attack in Japan... but hey, I was waiting for research into plasma rifles to complete.

UFO was amazing. Bloomin' hard, though, even on the easiest setting. Things would go so well... then you'd get more UFOs than you could shoot down and India would always join the aliens.

I remember when my Dad brought home a ZX Spectrum, and I thought it was brilliant.

I remember completing UFO Enemy Unknown on the Amiga; it took an absolute age, not least because of the constant disk swapping (this was before the hard drive purchase). Battle screen - swap disk; inventory - swap disk. Aargghh!!!

I then sold the machine, and lost my victorious moment in defeating the mother brain. *sobs*

Catchy music too.

Who remembers Harrier Attack on the Amstrad?

I was talking about it with my mate Wal's 30 year old brother before we went to Thailand. Amazing that there's an 11 year gap between us but we both remember playing that classic. You could bomb your own ship so if you made it past the enemy you had nowhere to land at the end.

Amazing.
