It's all down to an infinitely complex mathematical formula based around pi and the amount of light refracted by the top side of the CD.

Most of the time I don't know what the cover looks like until I go to buy the CD.

The music inside it. I don't buy music based on CD covers. Infact I only buy music based on what I think to it when I download a few 'samples' first.

I would say all of them combined, you cant have one without the other. But I like quite simple covers.

Dont judge a book by its cover can apply to many things, CD cases included.
