O.k lets get this over with....

I will honestly try and depict my first year here in true SR tradition.

I joined the SR forums at the ripe old status of a JAT (the good old days). In my first few days I got to grip with the forums and started to com to terms with the torrential abuse for my JAT 'text talk'. After a few days though, I had started to settle and become a 'Newbie'. The SR ranking system was an amazing touch, exclusive to the website, which I expressed in my new-found form of understandable English.

The year has been quite eventful, with me joining up some dull, cold, winter day to...well, another ,cold, dull winter day! I have experienced becoming respected and hated, with my fair share of 'trolling'. I started out as a very annoying little forum tard, but have now 'moved on'. Anyway...back to the point. I have been in disputes and slanging contests with Alastair, Maverick 42 and Alec. Of these, the most significant is Alec, although I hated him, it now seems almost quiet and respectable after his 'passing'(R.I.P). Many of the Newbies and JATs will not remember Alec and certainly not the arguements with Alastair.

It took me absolutely ages to finally become a treasured 'Regular' and I did my fair share of spamming on the FOG 'Worlds Longest-' thread. Nowadays though, one day someone is a JAT and the next day they have become a Regular, this is partly down to the amount of chain threads and arguements with more 'senior' members of SR. The level of abuse aimed at JATs and Newbies has increased since the time at which I was blossoming, which I personally think is uncalled for. Sometimes these people are annoying and talk in grammatically poor statements, but you have to remember that we all started out like this once. Overall this abuse is a gross generalization, with some Newbies being to blame, then when people start on the annoying culprits they band together, which is right. So, as my 'first year resolution' I am the NEWBIE AND JAT DEFENDER! All in all though, it is alot harder to flourish nowadays and Regulars will pick on Newbies and JATs simply for entering a topic!

Not all of my first year has been bad, in fact, none of it has! Cliche I know, but it is an exciting prospect and 'hobby' becoming an integral part of the SR 'machine'. The friendliness and overall fantastic management helps to keep the site clean and is a nice environment, especially when compared with some internet smut.

I particularly loved (and still do, for that matter!) the element commonly known as GAD. I has enthralled at the prospect of winning free games with no strings attatched, which was a truthful and fulfilled prospect. I was extatic that I had one my first GAD after less than 100 days, and am still trying for my second!

The Notable users help an 'up and coming' user like me and are an inspiration, with their helfulness and kind-hearted comments. Black Glove truly is amazing, always with a positive comment on a post or project that really helps you when you are new and confused. Some other users deserve a mention to, such as Notorious Biggles, who are always there to break up and arguement, remind us of the rules and generally help out when it all becomes too much.

The diversity of topics here at SR is astounding and there is always someone there to talk it throough with. From tackling difficult issues, to discussing girls, consulting people on games and just having a laugh, SR seems to cover it all without batting an eyelid.

The SR towers are an oasis in the internet desert, they sum up game information into one place and combine a chat room, sales site and 'hints and tips' for games all in one. I particularly like the 'input factor' of SR. You can submit your' own queries, hints, and walkthroughs or become an 'agony aunt' and help fellow users out of a gaming rut.

I am glad that I joined the SR site and I truly feel priveleged to be a part of what I have come to uphold and consider a part of my life for the past year, SR. It is truly a place to discuss passions on life, unwind and become wiser. Long live SR and a toast to a happy and successful first year.

Because, for some incompetent users, it would have to correct the entire post!

I saw one person on another site post this in a video-games forum:

I no wer yu men i wil fin ut 4 u

Translation: I know where you mean, I will find out for you.

Why can't SR have a Post Spellchecker? (Chuckles)

The number of noobs that sign up here that have no perception of good spelling and grammar is shocking though. If you dont know how a word is spelt you check, you dont just type out what you think it might be.

Some noobs do have Pertensal though.
