Thailand is for relaxed mofos. We didn't have any hotels booked, any travel plans, nothing - we just got off the plane and went "Oooh."

Hop in a taxi, ask to go to Kosan road (can't be bothered to check how you spell that - but I think that's where they filmed the start of The Beach) there's a place called New Joe's - cheap as chips. Don't spend too long in Bangkok, though, it'll drive you mental. Get to the islands as soon as you can, the atmosphere there is amazing.

Hmm, this summer in need a place to go. Centre Parks or there?

Everything, including flights, accomodation, transport and food - about a grand. Worth it, like.
