I already knew what's a xylophone, but I had to know for sure that it didn't have another meaning, and that's because I didn't understand the riddle at first

That was supposed to be the Sphinx's riddle. In mythology, she committed suicide just because someone solved it. Silly girl :)

How about this one:

It starts off life with four legs grows into something with two legs and eventually becomes something with three legs

Solution:

A baby that crawls, to a person that walks, eventually becoming an old person on a walking stick.
