How many people chat to someone online and feel that this person they have never chatted to is great to talk to. That they seem really nice, caring, honest and friendly. I know that many people are warey of speaking to people me being one of them people. there is just something about this person i chat to and i class this person as a good friend. I have never met this person personally. I know what this person looks like, Well as far as i know is this person.

But there is also people i know that speak to people on the net and they can be really nasty and perverted, and always asking for details. My sisters friend was chatting to this person and this person got really serious and wanted to know everything about the person i know. These young people though just dont know when to stop. They have not given out house details just a mobile number. When are they going to realise.

They turn round to me and say well you speak to strangers, when i chat to a person i am honest about the things i say, but i know what things to share with them and i know what to keep to my self.

Has anyone gone to far, any good friends been made, or mistakes been made.

I always ask a/s/l if i'm ever in a chat room because i like to know what sort of person i'm talking to and it's always a good conversation starter. I got quite a few people on my msn who i speak to one who always declares his love for me but i'm smart enough to realise that he's just saying that hee hee. I used to belong to another chat forum, it was an American one though so clearly not as good as this forum. On there was 2 people who were boyfriend and girlfriend. They (when i started speaking with them) had never met but were so totally totally in love to the point they were engaged. He moved to her area which was all the way across America but only stayed for two weeks because he ran out of money.

Personally I don't think people could fall in love online-well not to the point that they are willing to spend the rest of their lives with that person. I do believe a couple can meet online but not actually be *in* love until they have met. I don't know if anyone here is in an online relationship in which case i have just put my foot in it but at the end of the day thats just my opinion.

I have never met anyone from the internet in real life however i've just been introduced to this girl my a mate of ours who happens to want to do the same course at the same university in September so i may meet her once at uni-makes sense though. I would consider meeting people online because i think it will be interesting to see if the person i meet is the person i thought he or she would be.

So on the note I think we should have an SR meet up! :p

physically met a few poeple i've met online and enjoyed the company of all of them :)

it depends on the people, the same as in real life. i met one of the best friends i ever made online, sadly it seemed the great scheme of things enjoyed their company too and reclaimed their life 2 weeks before their 21st birthday :(

but you'll always get the cretins who's opening line is "a/s/l" when all you're trying to do is play yahoo! pool >:-S

I've "met" quite a few people online whom I would now consider to be good friends. One person I have been talking to since about a week after I first got connected to the internet. Another two were introduced to me by one of my friends who moved to Iowa a few years ago, as MSN is a great way for us to stay in touch and he introduced me to some of the new friends he'd made over there.

Most people are genuine just depends who you meet, some random person could add you on MSN messenger could turn out to be a genuine, nice person and are the age THEY say they are.

I talk to a few people i dont know, but i dont tell them my house address and phone number and things. If i dont like them i just block them.

But for all i know, these people i like to talk to might be a middle aged gay fat man. Well. I doubt it, but it's deffinatly possible.
