Crap. 1 hour 30 minutes of me wishing something would happen interspersed with 10 minutes of great shots of Japanese culture.
I might not have been in the mood for this movie, but it bored me to tears.
Its the type of film a film student will wax lyrical about, whilst secretly wishing “Well, I wish Francis Ford had given Sophia a damn good slap, and told her to make it bloody interesting instead of cinematic masturbation”
It’s a story of an unusual friendship developing between two people who are feeling culturally isolated.
And its crap.

I'm pretty suprised Lost In Translation's got this level of abuse.
I saw it last week and I thought it was fantastic. I really enjoyed it. I went in to the cinema feeling really depressed, but came out feeling much more positive about things. I don't think it was particularly deep or anything, but it was a really nice movie with some good performances and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Lets see what I’ve watched this weekend / Monday to see if I fit in your narrow-minded definition.
Adaptation (excellent. Didn’t quite know where it was going, and it pulled the rug out from under me)
Versus (pretty poor, wafer thin plot, not as gory or kinetic as hoped)
Delicatessen (with directors commentary this time, great movie)
Two towers extended (great)
Bumfights (mates over, they wanted to watch it)
Braindead (Saturday night drunken monkey matinee, great fun, and mate who hadn’t seen it sat shellshocked)
Lost In Translation (Self indulgent crap, girlfriend thought so too)

And I hate to break it too you but I DID get it, its just that there was next to nothing of substance or interest to really “get.”
As I have also said, each to their own. Just because I didn’t like it doesn’t mean other people can’t like it, but I feel it’s a case of critic brainwashing, and liking the movie to be hip and trendy and appear clever and well informed.
I personally thought it was crap.

I'm generalising here, but I've been on other forums in the past and all they've done is come across pretentious and overly critical. I personally watch a movie wanting to enjoy myself, and if I don't like it then fine, but it's as though each film is crap until proven good with these "buffs".
Just a generalisation though, from a bit of past experience.

No, she's not. She has a terrible voice. She's hoarse, sounds like she has throat cancer. If you like listening to 40 of pure pro-tools, then Pink is for you. If, on the other hand, you like music that shows some skill in both playing and writing you will not find it in acts like this.

Pfft, you get tickets to one Kelly Osbourne concert and your labelled for life. I have no excuse for Pink though as I don't think one is needed. She's great. I thought it was excellent. And I've never been wrong about anything, ever.
I was thinking about watching this film.
