I have a Gigabyte GA-7VAXP Motherboard, version 1.x

I want to upgrade the Bios so i can upgrade to a 2500+ Barton and Overclock it to 3200+.

I have @Bios on a CD, and it seems straight forward enough, but I like to ask questions when there is a risk involved.

-What is the chance of a net update going wrong?
-What is the chance it wont boot after?
-If it fails, it wont fail the system instantly will it?
-If it fails, can I "upgrade" it with the saved old Bios and restore it and try again?
-Any other info on @Bios as well ;).

Thanks to anyone who helps.

you're parents dont love you do they... anyway.

I like gigabyte, mainly cos there a feature filled and clients ALWAYS love them for all the pointless things like RAID, and SATA (has a long way to go). Anyway, u get a lot of bang fur ur buck with Gig, so I use em. Even if I do disabled half the stuff in the bios.

That must have been about six months ago, when EPoX were the best. Market leaders change all the time, this is why buying a Gigabyte motherboard because "you prefer them" is just STUPID!

Uh oh, you're on the slippery slope to attaching an aerofoil to your PC and calling it Da Beast.

:O, calm down dude, Gigabyte are not a bad motherboard at all, i my experiance i have found them to be pretty reliable but not for the performance market, I alos like the DFI motherboards and have an ABIT motherboard myself, all depends on what you budget is and what you are looking for in a motherboard.

I don't give a flying gerbil what you prefer, the cold hard fact is your preferences are wrong.

yeah, Asus are ace. I use them for Client PCs, cos they are easy to assemble with and are VERY reliable.

Gigabyte just don't make good motherboards. ABIT and the new DFIs are the only boards worth spending money on.
