Ugh.
An Amiga500 with CD quality sound, there was NOTHING about it which made it seem next generation or if the addition of the CD player was doing anything worthwhile. LORDES. And THAT joypad. Cheese would be more useful when plugged into the thing. And the design, for all the people who say the PS2 is a nasty big black thing from the early 90's, THIS must have been the inspiration.
Still, the soundtrack to Diggers was nice, ambience ... I use it to supply sound FX to DJ mixes. I gave away my CD32 to my nieces so they could eat it or something...

And I have a shameful story to go with it.
One day little MWA went with his parents to choose his Birthday present. He wanted one of those brand new spanking consoles, you know, the ones with the CD's.
So he went to the shop and talked to some games advisor at the store. Little MWA could of took away a Playstation, or he could of taken away a Saturn. However, little MWA took away a Amiga CD32 and a few months later was buying games for five pound for it which use to cost forty.
I still have that thing and I've never come across someone who has had the console apart from me. I really liked the advert on one of the CD's provided with the console, it's slogan being "Amiga CD32 - The World Will Never be The Same Again".
And they were right - Biggest. Flop. EVAAAAAAH.

Yes, the advert had the bloke from Darling Buds Of May in it ... no not David Jason.
I like the way that to showcase the machine, it was given away with the WORST games ever. That Oscar game was AWFUL!
And half of us who owned the thing spent AGES waiting for Microcosm to come out, led to believe that it was some Silicone Graphics WONDERGAME, when it actually turned out to be an advanced version of Space Invaders with a nice background. Guh.
that was a complete bag of tosh.

Wasn't the PS2 released in 2000/2001?

Yes but it looks like its designed by someone from the 80's at least! Doesn't matter about the games, it DOES look like a nasty chunky black thing.

LOL I had a 32X, the Mega Drive Arcade add on. Actually apart from the Nomad I've owned every Sega console released in this country. and yes, I had an Amegia CD32 as well. *shame*
Sony's designers must have been tripping when they decided to go with that. The concept image was better looking...

Oh what about the OH SO CONTROVERSIAL game that came out on that, corrupting our minds with girls in nightwear...
