In this country, we have a wide range of strikers who are all top class. We have the likes of Kevin Phillips, Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen (just to name a few) so why do England managers insist on selecting player such as Andy Cole? Andy Cole, in my eyes, had one good season at newcastle but apart from that, he is not very good to say the least. His below average performance and the fact that he missed a sitter on Saturday when England faced Finland has sparked a number of critics and experts with in the game to back him. Why!? He is yet to prove himself as an international player, it's not as if he had a good world cup or european championships where he scored and proved himself. I say its time the manager started picking players on performance and not reputation!

The pair that I would play up front if I was the manager would Owen and Heskey. I think these are two great players and are relatively young. If they are not played based on they don't have enough experience, how are they meant to gain the experience sitting on the bench? I have heard this excuse far to many times and I believe that it should finally be laid to rest and these two players given a fair chance.

Also I would like to add that I'm happy to see such stars like Steve Gerrard playing for our country because he has more than deserved it with his performances.

Come on people, give Cole a chance! He set up Owens goal after all, and his shot after just 30 seconds really got the crowd into the game.

Many people consider Ian Wright to be a legend, and they'd be right. But just how long did it take for him to score his first England goal?

If you look at the "sitter" that Cole missed on Saturday, you'll notice that it fell to his left foot. I'm pretty sure that he's right footed, so he had two choices, get the shot off with his left, and risk spooning it, which he did, or try to move the ball onto his right foot and waste the opportunity.

Though with 3 Liverpool strikers in the squad, playing well together as a team, it might make sense for England to take advantage of this. Heskey can hold the ball up well, and has pace. I wasn't too impressed with him whilst at Leicester, but he's really come on it leaps and bounds since playing for Liverpool.

I'm sure Sven will pick the team he thinks is right for the Albania game, and with any luck we'll be coming home with 3 points.

I think I have said before, I have never rated Andy COle worthy enough for a place in the England team - He has had too many chances to impress and has failed on every one of them. There is no doubting that he contributes a lot to the team but he is put out there to score goals which he just cannot do for England. I think its time to leave him out the squad and give someone else a chance. Give Sheringham the nod, he is a proven England striker, or Phillips who needs more starts to gain the experience - I think he will develop into an all time England legend!!
