I didnt notice that my heatsink came with a thermal pad on it, so when i tested the fit i accidently got some of it on the CPU die, which i have to remove so i can get arctic silver 5 on, will nail varnish remover be ok?

The chip would have said 03xx with xx being the week. I have a week 29. Great fun.

As for not being able to install XP, is it a SATA hard drive? If so, you boot the PC from the XP CD then when it says do you need to install any SCSI drivers (or something similar) you install a SATA driver that should have come with your mobo. Took me a while to get it set up as well.

Just a little update to say that it boots up fine.

And even better i can fiddle with the CPU multiplier, dunno how that happened, unless i got lucky with a pre-week 39 chip.

I cant install XP yet though, something about cannot find boot disk or something.

I know it seems weird im sitting here now looking at both my SATA drives and my PATA drive and it looks like the SATA drives have something missing :)

It's perfectly safe, but isopropyl alcohol is recommended.

You want lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol.
