NTL have broadband access in my area, I just cant afford £20 a month, and more importantly I dont have any real reason for needing access that fast!

On the subject of the Sony selling 10 million PS2s in 5 months, thats good news for all us Gamers...

...I just hope theres a price drop soon! :¬)

You are correct, 144 - NTL do provide braodband access in some areas. It's available in my area, and I'll be switching to it later in the year, after my holiday.

Currently it is free installation, but the PC USB cable modem (512K/sec downstream, 128K/sec upstream) costs £150 to buy, with a £20/month rental fee.

Alternatively you can rent the cable modem, paying £25/month.

To see if NTL broadband is available in your area, visit:

http://www.askntl.com /broadband/default.asp

(Remember to remove the space!)

It explains everything, and the 'Availability' section lets you enter your postcode to see if it's available in your area.

broadband internet network is already available in some parts of this country and Ive heard that it is NTL also supply this service but you get charged for it about £20 a month.
NB: Its just what I heard but I'm definetly sure that it is available.

True, but there maybe problems with the broadband internet network- I heard that the government is withdrawing putting the cash into establishing a broadband network in this country in favour of improving existing technologies, so we may not benefit from the collaboration at all. There have been problems with the network in Japan also, but lets hope some day we all have lightening quick internet connections with NO lag time!

Not rumours anymore. It is confirmed that the trio will be making arcade machines with the internet capabilities first, which will sell the idea to those with or without a PS2, then the internet ability wil be brought into the home.

I would agree that the PS2 is great as a DVD player(the only annoying thing about that is the fact that the system is a bit screwey when it comes to RGB Scart) and I admit I use it the majority of the time to play DVDs. But at least it has a dual function, when the GOOD games, like ZOE for example, are released for the system people will then buy the system as a games console. I believe that people are biding their time at the moment to wait for games that will be of good quality but at least in the meantime they can pick from the thousands of DVD titles out now, so then the system wouldnt be a complete waste of money. Isnt that what happened with the N64, with their dribble of good games every once in a blue moon?

Could it be anything to do with the PS2's internet connection, and Sega's online network?

Yeah, what is all this stuff about Sega + Sony + Namco doing some internet stuff.

I've only heard rumours but i think they aere going to make machines for arcades that were linked through the 'net, so you could play against someone in a different arcade, or even against someone playing on their PS2 and/or DC at home.

As i say, its only rumours, anyone else know anything else?
