But seriously, I must stress how good the GameBoy Advance is. I've been playing it again today, this time with the wonderful Castlevania and Top Gear 2.
Castlevania has some wonderful music on the menu screen, sounding very ochestral, it summons up thoughts of vampires, dark places and evil looking castles. The game iteslf is typical castlevania style, very much like the last Snes edition of the game, but shrunk to fit on a lovely handheld.
Top Gear 2 is not bad for the first GBA driving game. It looks a lot like the SNES Top Gear rally, but it's still quite basic compared to what the GBA should be capable of. It's similar also to those Lotus Esprit games on the Amiga and ST and although it's fun to play, it lacks a certain something that I'm sure will be rectified in later driving games on the platform.
The GBA still holds me awestruck and I am really finding it more and more difficult to give it back to the owner! However, I'm still not rich enough to find the £200 that I'd need for an import one and for that reason I'm prepared to wait till June for mine.
I still urge everyone to pre-order one if they know what's good for them. It's the best piece of hardware I've tried out this year.
