The problem ive now got is that we've been doing covers when we practice. We have written one song but thats it. and its not even that good.
so what im after is some tips on writing songs.
also feel free to post about your own bands and how great they are etc.
More guitar play is needed. I've not bothered for a while, but I really wanna write my own stuff.

All of my attempts end up cheesy with the obvious sort of rock lyrics people would expect.
Our songs spawn from the 6-string guitarists (myself and some other guy. You just need to find a riff or a chord progression you think sounds cool and then take it to practise. Play it to the others. Play it over and over so that the drummer, bassist and other guitarist can find parts to go with or over your piece. Now you need to find other parts that go with it or say what you want to do with this piece. Do you want it to be an intro, chorus or verse section, what? Then build more parts around it and repeat the process. In Finelines, the vocals come last in the mix, but the vocalist is always there giving his advice so that we always write vocal-friendly songs.
