"The Xmas Period"

Saw me dumping my girlfriend of 12 years. January will see me giving up booze for the month. And I'm currently involved in a play that has perhaps the worst, most ineffectual and wet director in all history.

Has anyone else had a godawful Xmas? And if so, do you also feel oddly energised by it?

My Christmas and NY were great. In Spain; in pub on Christmas day until 3.30am, in club on New Years Eve until 8am. Funny story attached to the latter which I'll post when I can be asssessessed. Don't smoke but on NY smoked 40 Spanish lung bleeders.

Still feel rough. As for the double redbull (pink elephant in Spain!) vodkas, we learnt the hardway about the perils of liberal measures and cheapola prices.

No Spanish lasses got hold of my winky though, so in fact it was a crap time and I hate Europe.

Mine was crap in that I wasn't well, and I didn't see any of my mates until AFTER New Year's Eve. But then I can't remember the last time I had a good Christmas. I'm too old to get excited about Santa (apparantly, he doesn't exist - I know, I know, I just found out too!) and too young to "get together with the family" since I'm "with" them every day, being that I still live at home.

Ah well, only six more months of being a teenager left. Then I'll hit the big 20 and my life will suddenly become better. Well, that's the plan...

Over Christmas I've found myself pondering the question: What does the 'X' stand for in the abbreviation of Christmas? - 'Xmas'? It doesn't make sense. Why 'X'?
