They were picked up by a man who identified himself as peter and offered to take the girls home. They drove home quietly approaching the housing estate where my mum and her friend lived, but he carried on driving despite their yells to stop. Eventually one of them grabbed him and yelled at him to stop, and as the car slowed them both jumped out and ran home.

It worries me to this day that my mum could have been the first victim of the Yorkshire Ripper, but I am thankful that she wasn't. This is a true story.
Sorry to turn this serious thread about what awful things could have happened into something daft, but it just reminded me of it. I saw the police report my mum had to write about it.
My Mum and Gran were in the City Centre one night, waiting at the Bus Stop to come home. This guy came up to them and started chatting to them, eventually offering to give them a lift home. They told him where to go and got on the next bus home. A few days/weeks (not sure which) later, it turned out that man was the Yorkshire Ripper.
Very disturbing when you think how close to home these dangers can be!
