I’m not sure I like the idea of being contactable 24 hours a day. In fact I’m sure I don’t like the idea at all. Lately I’ve taken to switching my phone off at 9p.m. unless I’m out. People keep saying to me I shouldn’t because they’re sending me messages in the evenings and never getting an answer from me. I always say to them, so what? You only asked what I’m doing and my answer would have been just as benign as your question. If it had been urgent you would have rang the home phone so what’s the problem? I can’t understand that really. People phone you and the first thing they ask is “where are you?” Why? It doesn’t matter where you are.

As you’ve probably guessed I’m becoming a bit disillusioned with mobile phones. They’re a pain in the rear end. I remember the day when I could sit in a restaurant enjoying my lunch in relative peace and quiet, now I sit eating my lunch with someone in the background yacking to their friend on their mobile, shouting as loud as they can phrases such as “Noooo” and “She never!”. She obviously bloody did love or your friend wouldn’t be telling you it!

It’s the same story on the bus home. I used to like having a quick nap on the bus home, but that too is a thing of the past, as I invariably get the loud mobile owner sitting beside or behind me. A couple of weeks ago I sat for an hour and a half on a bus home late in the evening listening to the guy behind me ring at least 5 or 6 different friends complaining about the Man Utd. match the night before to each one, telling the same story to each one about his night out, with the odd little extra bit of story thrown into each new version, and then when he finally did stop using his phone for chatting, he proceeded to play a game on it with the sound at full volume!

A quiet life seems to be a distant memory these days, and all thanks to the wonders of technology and our lovely mobile phones.

I love my phone. Mainly because of the camera attached to it which allows preservation of those classic moments like a mate trying on a bright red leather jacket. And everyone got to see it...

Still, I know where you are coming from as people are way to inconsiderate nowadays with them. Things were just so much.. quieter 5 or 10 years ago.

Sadly I didn't found it, but now that i know of its existence I shall promptly be founding a new wing of it- Citizens Rage Against Misuse of Phones or C.R.A.M.P.

seeing as I am not totally against their use, just their misuse.

No, I can't agree with all this, the points you have made point to people who are inconsiderate and generally loud, not the technology itself.

If someone sees fit to yack to their friends on a mobile phone in a restaurant, it is that person who is the problem, not the phone itself.
Perhaps there should be more laws against using them in public places, but I could never agree that mobiles are a bad thing.

And, if you don't want anyone to contact you, do as you say and switch off your phone. you switch it back on again the following day, don't you - so you can't dislike them that much .....

Mobile phones, or rather, their stereotypical user, which is actually common, are the bane of the Earth. Seriously.

The coolest ISP ever!
In my opinion, the ISP is the best I have ever used. They guarantee 'first time connection - everytime', which they have never let me down on.
Brilliant service.
Love it, love it, love it!
