As you’ve probably guessed I’m becoming a bit disillusioned with mobile phones. They’re a pain in the rear end. I remember the day when I could sit in a restaurant enjoying my lunch in relative peace and quiet, now I sit eating my lunch with someone in the background yacking to their friend on their mobile, shouting as loud as they can phrases such as “Noooo” and “She never!”. She obviously bloody did love or your friend wouldn’t be telling you it!
It’s the same story on the bus home. I used to like having a quick nap on the bus home, but that too is a thing of the past, as I invariably get the loud mobile owner sitting beside or behind me. A couple of weeks ago I sat for an hour and a half on a bus home late in the evening listening to the guy behind me ring at least 5 or 6 different friends complaining about the Man Utd. match the night before to each one, telling the same story to each one about his night out, with the odd little extra bit of story thrown into each new version, and then when he finally did stop using his phone for chatting, he proceeded to play a game on it with the sound at full volume!
A quiet life seems to be a distant memory these days, and all thanks to the wonders of technology and our lovely mobile phones.
Still, I know where you are coming from as people are way to inconsiderate nowadays with them. Things were just so much.. quieter 5 or 10 years ago.
seeing as I am not totally against their use, just their misuse.
If someone sees fit to yack to their friends on a mobile phone in a restaurant, it is that person who is the problem, not the phone itself.
Perhaps there should be more laws against using them in public places, but I could never agree that mobiles are a bad thing.
And, if you don't want anyone to contact you, do as you say and switch off your phone. you switch it back on again the following day, don't you - so you can't dislike them that much .....
