as you will know sega are stopping the production of the dream cast, only to make a secret rpg for the good old gamecube. It is said that we will also see sonic appearing in a gamecube title and he might even team up with mario.

Now the dreamcast is dying out i cant help but wonder what is the future of the classic gaming company. AS the former president died a week ago everyone says that has done it for sega. will sega permanently team up with nintendo and drive microsoft and sony out of business forever. Or will they help microsoft and the cube make some decent games, or they could give us all a shock by having alliance with the ps2 and 3.

At the moment sega arent revealing much about the future but it is sad that they might leave the console making business permanently.

I think it is a pity that the dreamcast is stopping after just little over one year. Since the mega drive have never really had much luck. As the games were decent enough they didnt seem to get as popularas sony and nintendo. The sega saturn was not there best performance and then the dc was broght out at a time that gave them a disadvantage.

They have always been a decent company but have never been as sucessful as planned. Sure the mega drive and master system were good but not mind numbingly addictive(apart from streets of rage which is a classic).

So hopefully sega will team up with one of the 3 other already brilliant games companies most likely nintendo which is definitely my odds on favourite and continue to make excellent games for quite a time.

In my opinion the dreamcast was a big hit but no one else seem to take to it as the psx was already out and kickin @ss. So where did it all go wrong? and did sega team up with nintendo to make an rpg because they were going bust over the dc's failier?

Anyway i still havent lost faith in sega but i have a feeling it might be end...

cheers for reading

I know there's no solid proof yet, but I very much doubt that VF4 is a PS2 only thing...

Where have you been? :-)

Sega are producing some of their Dreamcast classics for PS2, at least one of which (Virtua Fighter 4) will be a PS2 exclusive.

They are also producing for Nintendo's Gameboy Advance, and - although I personally haven't heard anything - they will more than likely produce games for the GameCube and Xbox as well.

I would have to admit that I am somewhat saddened by the events that have taken place with Sega over the past few months or so, but it was the right decision, albeit forcably made, that Sega had to make for the company as a whole to survive. Dont get me wrong, the Dreamcast is by no means dead and buried- there are 16 new games being announced for it and the Tokyo Games Show this month, but the fact that the Grim Reapers axe is about to fall over the Dreamcast production, which is now just 11 days away now, really now will be the end of an era which began in the mid 80s which saw the resurrection of the computer games industry by two companies, Sega and Nintendo, who both have been creshed by the new boy on the block, Sony. Its great to see that Sega are now finally going to do what they do best, and thats to make great games, in which I will not deny that Sega have done so in the last few years above and beyond all others, but to be honest I would have loved the Dreamcast to not die like it has done, but when you see that the Dreamcast has been losing money ever since it was first launched nearly 3 years ago now, you know that it was only a matter of time because of all the money they have been losing over the past few years due to the failures of the 32X, and the Saturn, and the fact that a lot of people in the industry after the failure of the Saturn were advising Sega to pull of of console development- but I do commend Sega for trying again though. To be honest even though their influencial CEO recently died of heart failure, I think the future is bright for Sega because I think now that they are not restricted to making games for one platform they can be more successful, and even though their main rivals are now EA and not Sony or Nintendo, I think that they will finally be successful and do what they do and always have done best, make great games. Good luck Sega!
