*hi all, i posted this in general chat as well, but would be interesting to see the responses (if any :) ) it gets in a more "in depth" forum. cheers *

hi guys,
i know there have been a million of those "i hate townies" threads before and i wanna make it clear that this is NOT one of them, it just so happens that the negative aspect in this lil tale is a group of the little bar stewards.

i'm sad because i give people respect, i'm courteous and polite and try my best to be a good person. it's not hard, not at all. so why then does the world seem to be full of people who are the complete reverse?

saturday night i went out with some friends from uni and had a REALLY good night, y'know those nights whee everyone is ina good mood and all things are cool?? one of those...
that is until we were walking home. 3 little butt-clowns (about 17/18) were getting kicked out of a burger place for being a pain just as we were walking past. they were loud and obnoxious and of course started shouting abuse at us, which was met with the usual response ;)
ok, so a little verbal bashing, no problem, keep walking, that's th end of it right? wrong. i turn round and they've started walking across the road and a few seconds latre and getting stuck into a mate of mine, i go to help him out, pull a coule of them off him and think "ok, a little scuffle, THAT'S the end of it).. sadly the aforementioned "missing-link mentality" rears it's ugly head and one of the little buggers takes a swing at me...

*clunk*

hmmmm, that hurt a little more than it should for a skinny little dude like him... aaah, that'll be why. the little tw@ had a bottle up his sleeve and as a result i'm now pi$$ing blood from my head (luckily it didn't smash though). as i'm trying to call either the police or an ambulane, he runs up shouting "you'd better not call the police" and whacks me in the nose with his damn bottle (didn't break it, but messed my glasses up a treat :( ) eventually it all subsided but the result was that i have to spend my christmas with a nice collection of stitches in my eyebrow and in quite a fair amount of pain.

now i don't mind a bit of pain, i don't even mind that a confrontation happened too much, that seems to be the way the world is heading anyway, what angers me is that people now seem to think nothing of brandishing potentially deadly objects instead of backing themselves up. it's all so cowardly, 3 of them all leap on 1 person at a time and start swinging heavy tubes of glass around. i mean, what hope do these people have? to be SUCH a crappy person at 17/18?? they surely will just end up in jail??
is there no way back from this downward spiral? for surely as long as these cretins are paranting the next generation, things can only get worse?

anyways, "season of good will" indeed :)

merry christmas everyone!

i agree completely.
like i said, basic defense items should be available to anyone who feels they need it, but again, there's always going to be a LOT of issues with making this kind of thing available to the public. For instance, what then should the Police be allowed access that the public aren't? i know i don't favour firearms or over-the-top capture methods, but they need to have an edge when needed to perform their duties in difficult circumstances.

yeah, and the kicker is, i'm 23....
i thought i'd be somewhat "above" this kind of thing by now. but clearly not, which is the source of my worries for this discussion :(

me too, but if the bottle HAD broken i'd have lost an eye so it could've been a lot worse....

oh i am, but i simply feel that no-one should have to live in a place where, as you say, they feel uncomfortable after a certain time (or indeed at any time) and again, i must refer to my time in holland where not once did i feel that way at any point or any time of day.
it is truly sad that our society in this country seems to be ever more beleagured by cretins and people like you and me have to actively look for (for want of a better term) "better" people in a forum such as this. While the friends i have, i have BECAUSE they're "better" people, there's just too few of them and while things like the media continue to pander to the lower brain functions (for example, those "club reps in *wherever* UNCOVERED" shows and things of a similar target) instead of provoking a will, need, or at least a desire to grow mentally, i fear things will remain the same and slipping.

(apologies if these posts make me sound like a MASSIVELY arrogant butt-clown, i'm really not, just incredibly frustrated at the moment, as i'm sure you can appreciate. thanks)

that's the thing dude, ya can't :(
the Police have them, but the general public can't get them for the obvious reasons that if ANYONE could get them, then things like burglaries would be twice as easy to do :(

maybe a screening process, like America has with guns, would help?
a simple background check at the very least may go some way to making sure that people likely to do $hitty things wouldn't get them.

sickening sounds like what has happened to people very close to me on several occasions. To think that the country is turning into a complete hell whole for the teenage age. I cannot go out feeling safe if it is dark or nearly dark.

but as has been pointed out, it's perhaps not as fitting as it could be...

hmmm, i'm not sure about this. as much as i hope their actions catch up with them, that implies that more people need to suffer because of them before any redemption.
no sympathy if they DO cop it though, there's certain things i wouldn't mind doing to their faces with a hammer for sure....

is that all??
hmmm, but how much is needed for good effect? if one quick spray does the job then 6 seconds is plenty.
besides, even if there were more than 1 attacker (as there was in this case) it'd still go some way to evening things up a little...

i was actually thinking about this yesterday, a can of pepper spray or something would certainly have been a help, if only to even up the numbers....

Ok the NEDs may just get

true. a "stalemate of suspicion" if you will. like the US and Russia with the nukes, it's not worth starting anything... just incase.

Your title is effective. I like.

As for those little gits, they will probably never learn just like all the others. They will hopefully end up jail one day for not thinking. Sorry to hear about it though. :s
