The reason why the Matrix didn't get a 'special' was probably because of the downfall it had since the first film.
Although I won't argue now, I just felt that
Reloaded = Moderate
Revolutions = Dissapointingly mediocre.
you're missing the point here - both trilogies have had enormous media attention, why should LOTR get its own show when the matrix didn't?
and if you're going off quality - you had no way of knowing just how good or bad matrix revolutions was before it was released, in the same way that (although unlikely) return of the king might make spiceworld look like a well thought out masterpiece.

Think of a large,steaming,warm pile of sh*te.
Now think of Matrix Reveolutions.
That's how crap it was.

Bah. I for one will buy the 3DVD boxset when it comes out, and watch them ALL back to back for the mindless kung-fu action, and lubbly special effects.

Because Revolutions was crep, and all the LOTR films so far have been excellent.
Awesome. The DVD will be well over 4 hours, then.
FOTR: 3.5 hours
TTT: 3.75 hours
ROTK: 4.25 hours
11 and a half hours, and *I* shall watch them all back to back this time next year!
MWAHAHAHAHHHAAHAHAHAHAHAaa!!!

How can you compare Matrix REVOLUTIONS to Lord of the rings? Apparently it's quite good but Jackson has gone overboard with the length which shows lots of backgrond info, creatures etc. 3 1/2 hours, but hey I can sit through it.
