Does that have anything to do with the Americans who walk around going "I'm actually Irish" when they most certainly are not?

I can't see the point in someone learning Irish if they're not Irish mind. It's not as if its spoken anywhere but here, unlike French. Sometimes its called the poetic language though for some reason, and oddly a lot of Americans are keen to learn "Oirish" phrases!

I've been told Welsh is not as complicated by someone who can speak both.

I dont mind it. It keeps the language alive.
