How on earth can UEFA still be threatening to kick England out of the Euro finals if there's any crowd trouble, when...

(a) They are making tickets readily available to anyone from their website, without any type of checks?

(b) They are so CONSISTENTLY soft on the Turks?

Plus, many of these 'battles' are organised by both sides.

What was that documentary on TV a while ago, where they infiltrated the group led by (I think) a Chelsea "fan" who phoned his overseas counterpart to arrange where and when they were going to have the 'event'?

So-and-so Investigates I think it was called.

Ortega, you're so blind.

England fans inavded the pitch at the end of the England Turkey game, and THAT incident caused UEFA to come out with the whole "we could ban you from the tournament" crap. Meanwhile, in Turkey's next game, an opposing player trying to take a corner had to be shilded by riot police because of the sheer weight of projectiles being hurled at him.

Now, tell me that if that had been england 'fans', UEFA wouldn't have simply "knee-jerked" and dismissed England from the tournament.

Turkish football is ABSOLUTELY synonymous with hooliganism and excessive violence. I could dig up the links of the 5 day city riots inspired by a league derby that required military intervention to break up, but I'm sure you know how to use google yourself for that. But something like 30 people died, mostly from stab wounds, cars were burned in the streets, shops sacked etc etc.

Russia v Wales, scores of toilet rolls thrown on the pitch, flares aplenty in the crowd, wales fans attacked and abused. Italy v Wales, obscene amounts of projectiles hurled at Wales fans after some idiot decided to sit all the wales fans UNDERNEATH the Italy fans. Projectiles included broken glass and such, and then the police refused to allow the fans to leave, forcing them to sit suppressed under the continued barrage.

If that'd been in England? That's right. Off you go pommies, no tournament for you.

Russia, lose to Japan in world cup. Result? street riots and brutal murders.

But England invade the pitch in the final moments of a tense game? Wooo Waaahhh, we will expell yuou!!!!11213232

I'm not saying that we don;t have a problem. Sure we do. Some two-thousand people banned from travel to international tournaments (action by our government, not international footballing bodies), constant vigilance for thugs and hooligans and still some clubs with serious problems with violent fans. But are we the only one's with problems? Are we balls. We have as much a problem as anyone else, made only worse by a sensationalist media basically egging these morons on because it makes interesting reading. If anything, we're among the most pro-active countries in trying to stamp the problem out.

Your being rather naive if you think thats the case. English yobs go to these tournamounts looking for trouble. Over 1000 of them were banned by the FA from travelling to south Korea/Japan.

Perhaps these are a few of them

The Turks are by far the worst. At home matches they set off flares, hold banners saying 'Welcome To Hell', throw coins and cans at players, make racist chants and start murderous riots.

And why are the English fans always blamed? We just get INVOLVED in riots. It's all because of that riot in 2000 when Cardiff's goalkeeper joined in, 'setting a bad example'.

And yet bans for rioting and racism are so low- usually in the region of £20,000. What UEFA need to do is listed below:

1- Start watching what happens in games outside of the EU.
2- Increase fines to around £75,000 to £100,000.
3- Stop blaming people.

Or if youy want a riot on your PC:

Just get rid of the space between the / and the q.

And, of course, England's yobs are the only ones to chant racist abuse at players, aren't they.

Eastern Europeans making monkey noises at England's black players, anyone? Turkish fans murdering opposing fans in cold blood?

I know England has its share of racist and troublesome *ahem* "fans", but I do get oh-so-tired of everyone making out we are the only ones.

I think that UEFA actually want trouble so that they can kick England out.

Why else would they be offering tickets for sale to anyone, without security checks, when the authorities are doing everything they reasonably can to stop these morons from travelling? They are undermining the efforts of several nations to overcome the problem.

I guess we just never hear of these threats. They are there. I'm sure Galatasray cant be far off a europeon banning. Although I think England tipped UEFA over the edge with the pitch invansions, racist chanting towards the turks and fighting outside all in one game during the Turkey game at SOS.

I think the "classic" "i'd rather be a p@ki than a turk" resurfaced in that game.

Oh, little OT, but found this on my travels.

http://www.stattoshop.co.uk/europe/fansview.htm

quite a lot of info on Arsenal there. Classic quote from Wenger

"Wenger has slammed the £7.5M price tag on Le Saux, saying that he could buy a whole team for that money, on the continent."

But isn't that done with all England fans?

Maybe so, but Turkish fans in general aren't generally the best behaved, are they?

And every year in the Champions League/UEFA Cup, Turkish fans cause at least as much trouble.

So - to put it in context - if England are being threatened with the boot from the Euro finals if the fans misbehave, why are the Turkish clubs never threatened with the boot from these competitions?

Your taking it out of context in that your putting them all under one tree.

Eg, Arsenal have nothing to do with England in this context.

Besiktas had a clean record before the Chelsea game so its really only a first offense.

England have been pretty much notorious for crowd trouble in all the major tournamounts bar World cup 2002. And that was only becasue the regular thugs probably couldnt afford to get down there.

Germany 2006 will be interesting though.
