Was listening to Do you realise? by the Flaming Lips yesterday and there was one line of the song that made me sit back and actually think about it.

Do You Realise - that everyone..... you know..... someday..... will die

I'd never actually thought about that, or even realised it to be honest but it's true, everyone i know in my life right now will eventually be gone (including me) quite a humbling thought and makes me appreciate the time i, and all my friends, have left.

So any song lyrics that have got you thinking or touched you?

just a big congrats for missing the point entirely there Everpain.
sounds like someone is a little bit emo, annoyed that someone ELSE mentioned death and didn`t put it in a haiku.

or on myspace.

I've probably got more than i can thhink of but these'll do for now.

Manic Street Preachers - There By The Grace of God
Always reminds me how self-destructive people and in particular i, am.

"And all the drugs in the world, cant save us from ourselves"

Tracy Chapman - Fast Car
:) Getting the hell away from your life

"You got a fast car
But is it fast enough so we can fly away
We gotta make a decision
We leave tonight or live and die this way"

Beach Boys - I Just Wasn't Made For These Times
The whole song really.
"I keep looking for a place to fit in
Where I can speak my mind
I've been trying hard to find the people
That I won't leave behind
They say I got brains
But they ain't doing me no good
I wish they could"

Nick Drake - Fruit Tree
Again the whole song really. It's the idea that no-one will notice you or miss you until it's too late.

"Life is but a memory
Happened long ago.
Theatre full of sadness
For a long forgotten show.
Seems so easy
Just to let it go on by
Till you stop and wonder
Why you never wondered why"

John Lennon - Love
:)
"Love is real, real is love"

Marvin Gaye - Whats Going On
Best opening line of any song, ever. Maybe it's just the way he sings it.

"Mother, mother
there's too many of you crying
Brother, brother, brother
There's far too many of you dying"

Aren't you the saucy one.

Obviously people die, what i was saying was that i hadn't thought of possibly being around and all my friends would be dead, i guess i took it for granted that they'd be around forever and hadn't thought about spending part of my life with them not being around

Quite fitting for halloween, and a kick ass track :)

Depeche Mode - Barrel of a gun

Do you mean this horny creep
Set upon weary feet
Who looks in need of sleep
That doesn't come
This twisted, tortured mess
This bed of sinfulness
Who's longing for some rest
And feeling numb

What do you expect to be?
What is it you want?
Whatever you've planned for me
I'm not the one

A vicious appetite
It visits me each night
And won't be satisfied
Won't be denied
An unbearable pain
A beating in my brain
That leaves the mark of cain
Right here inside

What am I supposed to do?
When everything that I've done
Is leading me to conclude
I'm not the one

Chorus: Whatever I've done
I've been staring down the BARREL OF A GUN
Whatever I've done
I've been staring down the BARREL OF A GUN
Whatever I've done
I've been staring down the BARREL OF A GUN

Is there something you need from me?
Are you having your fun?
I never agreed to be
Your Holy One

Whatever I've done
I've been staring down the BARREL OF A GUN
Whatever I've done
I've been staring down the BARREL OF A GUN
Whatever I've done
I've been staring down the BARREL OF A GUN
